The hotel is lovely. The location at the base of the castle and Princes Street is great with most of Edinburgh attractions, shops and restaurants within a short walk. The architecture and ambience remind you of an era that really needs to continue. The history of the building is evident and the story is told around the hotel with historical elements such as the station clock in Peacock Alley and the stained glass and the chandeliers on the central staircase with architectural drawings in the corridors . The staff we met were first class and the service we experienced was lovely. The spa faclities are good and again the staff were first class. The Caleys Bar has a good selection of the usual drinks but also has a special cocktail menu showcasing some of the best Hilton cocktails from around the world. Dean Banks at the Pompadour comes highly recommended for a special occasion, the tasting menu is a real treat into fresh Scottish produce with an Asian twist in a great location. If you do this I recommend the wine flight which perfectly matches to the individual courses. All in all, highly recommended and would stay here again for any future visits to Edinburgh.

Waldorf Edinburgh is for when you want to have that historic, grandiose experience and ambience, with the conveniece of being just within a good stone-throw disance from the Edinburgh Castle. I love that hint of smell of aged wood and old luxury, while at the same time the premises being pefectly up-kept and contemproary, clean and othwerise suited for the modern comfort. The staff was, as expected, very professional, welcoming, kind and helpful. The breakfast was in a lovely and luxurious setting, delicious, and serviced. The coctails served to us by Melony at the bar were a delicious, mind-blowing experience (don't miss it!). The Spa area with the rather big swimming pool, a steamroom and a sauna was also rather big, pleasant, and not busy at all - just as I like it. All in all, we loved it.

Staff were very helpful (especially the concierge desk) and attentive. On the first day, breakfast was very quick, on the second day we had someone different serve us, and service was very slow and people who came in a long time after us were being served and leaving before us. The young lad who eventually started to serve us was very attentive compared to the girl. Breakfast took over an hour to complete. Food excellent. Lovely swimming pool.

Maria

I loved how welcoming the staff were, they really are a credit to this hotel, and couldn’t do enough for you. I have stayed in a Waldorf before in Rome and had a completely different experience to this, but I would really recommend this hotel to people travelling to Edinburgh. The breakfast is 10/10 and the rooms are very comfortable. I liked the extra touch of the Valentines Day hearts that we got to write and tie to their staircase.

The location is perfect for exploring the city whilst not being in the very middle of the most crowded part. It also turned out to be less than 100 meters from the airport bus stop, which saved us a lot of time. Very friendly staff and a beautiful, old building - and a spacious room.
